Gas Grill Lava rocks are used for emitting, absorbing and holding the heat temperature so that the grill surface becomes more consistent and even. Almost all the gas grills have racks for holding these lava rocks. If you do not have racks then you can put them on the metal bars which are located above the burners.

Gas grill lava rocks can last for at least two years or even above that. Lava rocks are very good for gas grill because they help in heating up the gas grill very quickly and it also radiates for grilling of food evenly. It is advisable to change the lava rocks after extensive long period of use because it can affect the food flavor if the rocks are frequently heated and cool down.

1. First open the lid of the grill and after removing the cooking crate put the fresh lava rocks on the crate which is placed above the burners.
2. After putting the lava rocks on the grate, try to arrange them in single layer and do not let the edge touch each other. After placing the lava rocks with the grate above the burner you ca put the cooking grate back to its place. Do not pile the lava rocks.
3. Now you can switch on your gas grill and close the lid and heat the grill for ten minutes.

You can replace your lava rocks if the rocks produce some grease odor and if they are hard to remove even by heating the grill.
